  • Vision

Our 2021 Gracias is a wine born from gratitude. When we first harvested these grapes in the fall of 2021—still on the vine and uncrushed—we had no idea that this would become a token of appreciation for our loyal supporters who stood by us during challenging times. Over the past few years, I’ve come to realize how unpredictable life can be. One of the most unexpected gifts has been the Graciano varietal, which now takes center stage in this wine. Originally thought to be a clone of Mourvèdre, a mix-up at a vine nursery halfway across the world led to a happy accident here in Paso Robles. Once ampelographers (grape scientists) uncovered the true identity of the grape, we embraced this serendipitous mistake with open arms. We are truly thankful to have Graciano as part of what makes Paso Robles such a unique and special place to grow wine.

  • Vintage Notes

The 2021 growing season in Paso Robles was marked by relatively temperate weather, resulting in a harvest that came about a week or two later than in recent years, with most growers beginning to pick their core white wine grapes in late August. While the region did experience smoke from wildfires further north, fortunately, it did not impact the vineyards here. The ongoing drought, while presenting its challenges, has had a positive effect on the fruit. The dry conditions led to smaller, more concentrated grapes, which are ideal for winemaking. Though yields are lower, the resulting fruit boasts more intense flavors, bolder colors, strong acidity, and well-balanced tannins. Given these conditions, winemakers are optimistic that 2021 will be remembered as an exceptional vintage in terms of quality.

  • Tasting Notes

This wine presents a deep purple hue, with an inviting bouquet of mulberry, violets, and dark chocolate, accented by a hint of cedar. On the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied, offering a beautiful balance of floral, spice, and blue fruit nuances. The texture is silky and refined, with remarkable length. Its bright acidity and structured tannins suggest excellent aging potential, allowing this wine to evolve gracefully over the next decade.
