2024 La Guera

2024 La Guera

  • Blend: 62% Chardonnay, 17% Viognier, 14% Albarino, 7% Grenache Blanc

  • Vineyard & AVA: Willow Creek District, Paso Robles CA.

  • Alcohol: 14.1%

  • Aging: Drink now through 2034

  • Vinification: After fermentation, the wine was aged for 16 months in a selective oak regimen: new French oak barrels for the Chardonnay and Viognier portions, and neutral oak for the Albariño and Grenache Blanc. This tailored aging approach adds subtle structure, texture, and complexity to the richer varieties while preserving the fresh fruit and vibrant acidity of the others, resulting in a beautifully integrated and layered final wine.

La Guera
  • Vision

La Güera is more than just a wine — it’s a love story in a bottle! Our winemaker Edgar created this special white blend for his wife Erika, a true white-wine lover and his very own “güera” (that’s his sweet nickname for the blonde beauty who inspired it all). The gorgeous label, painted by local Paso Robles artist Sarah Lane, shows a radiant blonde woman as a playful tribute to his muse.

Every vintage the blend shifts a little with Edgar’s creativity, but it always stays bright, vibrant, and full of personality — just like Erika. The 2024 La Güera is a lively mix of Chardonnay, Viognier, Albariño, and Grenache Blanc from the Willow Creek District that bursts with fresh citrus, white peach, apricot, and floral notes, finishing crisp, creamy, and utterly refreshing.

  • Vintage Notes

The 2024 growing season in the Willow Creek District began with ample winter rainfall and a cool, even spring that built deep vine reserves and encouraged balanced canopy growth. Summer brought several short, intense heat spikes, but the vines—supported by the district’s cooler microclimate, ocean breezes, and limestone-rich soils—handled the warmth with resilience, resulting in an earlier-than-usual harvest of fully ripened fruit with modest sugar accumulation and excellent natural acidity.

The outcome is a vintage defined by freshness, precision, and vibrant aromatic purity, producing a beautifully balanced La Guera that highlights the bright citrus, stone-fruit, and floral character of its four varieties—Chardonnay, Viognier, Albariño, and Grenache Blanc—while maintaining elegance and lively structure.

  • Tasting Notes

Pale golden in the glass, the 2024 La Guera offers expressive aromas of lemon zest, white peach, apricot, and orange blossom, layered with subtle notes of vanilla, toasted almond, and honeysuckle from barrel aging. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with vibrant acidity and a creamy texture that beautifully balances fresh citrus, juicy stone fruit, and floral character. The wine finishes long, elegant, and refreshing with excellent complexity and poise.
