Vision
Inspired by the bold and powerful wines of Spain’s Toro region, Toro de Paso is a true homage to its heritage. As our flagship Tempranillo blend, it stays authentic to Toro’s winemaking tradition by using the same Tempranillo clone and aging in custom-made Pentria barrels—crafted from a blend of French and American oak. These barrels impart a distinctive spiciness, enhancing the wine’s rich, structured profile. With meticulous craftsmanship, Toro de Paso captures the intensity and depth of its Spanish inspiration while embracing the unique character of Paso Robles.
Vintage Notes
The 2022 vintage was defined by resilience and adaptability in the face of extreme conditions. A dry winter led to low yields, and while early budbreak and a mild frost season provided a promising start, an unusually cool and windy late spring created challenges during fruit set. Summer brought favorable growing conditions, but the vintage’s defining moment came with two intense heat waves, culminating in record-breaking temperatures over Labor Day weekend, followed by an unexpected rain event. Despite these hurdles, the vines proved their strength, and careful vineyard management ensured a crop that, while limited in quantity, promises exceptional concentration and character in the bottle.
Tasting Notes
Toro de Paso delivers the bold richness expected from Tempranillo while maintaining a vibrant freshness that keeps it lively on the palate. Deep flavors of ripe cherry and plum intertwine with hints of spice, while Garnacha and Carignan add a juicy red fruit lift, enhancing the wine’s complexity. The result is a wine that is powerful yet approachable, with a balanced acidity that brings brightness and elegance to its full-bodied structure. Layered, expressive, and impeccably balanced, Toro de Paso captures both intensity and finesse in every sip.
